(CHARLOTTE, N.C. – January 20, 2015) – The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) NYSE:BWC) announced today that its subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group, Inc. (B&W PGG), has been chosen to design and manufacture a supercritical coal-fired boiler and selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) for the Duyen Hai 3 Extension power plant in Vietnam. The selection was made by Japanese prime contractor Sumitomo Corporation, which will build the 688 megawatt plant for its customer, Power Generation Corporation 1, a subsidiary of Electricity Vietnam (EVN). “We are delighted that Sumitomo Corporation and EVN have selected us for this important project,” said Elias Gedeon, Senior Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer, B&W. “This is B&W’s sixth steam generator in Vietnam and we are pleased to contribute to the nation’s energy needs.
