Grateful Dead Blues For AllahTerrapin Station

Arabian wind, the needle's eye is thin The ships of state sail on mirage and drown in sand Out in no man's land, where Allah does command What good is spilling blood?

I've been on a major Grateful Dead kick lately, & would like to possibly pick up some of the remastered Rhino CD's that came out back in 2002 - 2004(?). I already own all of their regular albums on a mix of the old Warner Bros. Geoffrey Bawa The Complete Works Pdf File more. /Arista CD's & vinyl, from the debut album up through 'Without A Net', so I am strictly interested in these for the bonus tracks only.

I also own a handful of vault releases such as 'One From The Vault', 'Ladies & Gentlemen.' , 'Steppin' Out', etc. I nearly always prefer the sound quality of older CD pressings vs. Remasters, so that is really not a factor here.

Grateful Dead, Vol 2: Piano/Vocal/Chords book by Dead Grateful, Grateful Dead. Blues * Unbroken Chain * Blues for Allah * Crazy Fingers * Franklin's Tower * Help on. This is a review of Grateful Dead. (Deep Elem Blues and the rarity Tom Dooley). Grateful Dead - Blues for Allah. Grateful Dead - Terrapin Station. Grateful dead blues for allah. Set 1 Bo's Blues #2 Notes: Grateful Dead studio. The Way ->Slipknot! ->Franklin's Tower Set 2 Blues For Allah ->Stronger Than Dirt Or Milkin' The Turkey.

I am strictly interested in the quality of the bonus tracks on each individual release. It looks like the Rhino CD's are absolutely PACKED with bonus tracks! And by the way, I enjoy all eras of the band, so again. That is really not a factor either. Thanks for any input.

I bought both of the boxes that contain these editions of the albums ( The Golden Road and Beyond Description). Here are some notes on my favorite bonus tracks: Both the first album and Anthem of the Sun have pretty good early live stuff, and the first album has 'full-length,' un-edited versions of some of the tracks. The 'jams' on Aoxomoxoa are all pretty cool and worth hearing. The live bonus tracks on both Workingman's Dead and American Beauty are great, especially on the former.

They have that laid-back, early-70s acoustic Dead vibe. There are also unlisted bonus tracks on both (a radio promo on Workingman's Dead and a radio promo and the single version of Ripple on American Beauty) The Europe '72 bonus tracks are essential, around 50 more minutes of music from this legendary tour. I love the bonus tracks on Wake of the Flood, especially the awesome 17-minute live take on 'Eyes of the World.' I like the outtake version of 'Loose Lucy' and the live 'Scarlet Begonias' on From the Mars Hotel, but the rest of the stuff on there is pretty forgettable IMO. The live version of 'U.S. Blues' (here called 'Wave That Flag') is OK but Garcia flubs a lot of the lyrics and the band sounds like it's trying to find its way for a large portion of the track.

Offworld Activation Sound Credit there. I LOVE the bonus tracks on Blues for Allah, the in-studio 'jams' are just as essential as the album itself. The studio bonus tracks on Terrapin Station are all pretty good, especially Catfish John. It also has a live version of 'Dancin' In The Streets' from the legendary 5/8/77 Cornell gig. The bonus tracks on Go To Heaven are all good, some say better than the album itself (though I don't know if I'd go that far). Both Reckoning and Dead Set are essential since both get bonus discs that basically double the amount of music on each.

In the Dark and Built to Last also have some pretty good tracks, especially the former where you get earlier studio outtake versions of some of the tracks on the album. And I know you said you aren't too big on how they sound, but to me all of these remasters sound absolutely fantastic. If you sprung for the boxes I don't think you'd regret it; you get literally HOURS of bonus material that stacks up well against the original material presented on the boxes. -Simon (bluej's son).
